Golfing New Zealand New Zealand is a GREAT place to golf (almost 400 courses throughout the country). From world class courses to beautiful (yet challenging!) country courses, New Zealand can satisfy the cravings of any dedicated golfer as well as the beginner.
Country courses are inexpensive by any standard, and even the resort courses are affordable. The views from New Zealand courses can easily distract the golfer from their game. Gazing on the snow capped mountains around Queenstown or looking back across the Hauraki Gulf to Auckland will bring many a golfer back for repeat games. Organise a group with activities included, and a great holiday will be enjoyed by all. New Zealand Travel can arrange your entire trip. Simply email us your plans and we can put them into action. |

Golfing Northland Northland offers the serious (and not so serious) golfer a wide variety of courses to choose from. Play the internationally renowned Kauri Cliffs (top 5 NZ course) and Carrington Resort (top 20 course) located in the far north (both with luxury accommodation on the course). The Bay of Islands region hosts the beautiful local courses of Kerikeri and Waitangi (next door to the Treaty Grounds and with fantastic views across the Bay). Plan a week's golfing holiday in the region combined with Northland's historic culture ☺

Golfing Auckland Auckland Golf comprises a very varied experience with Gulf Harbour north of the city (top 20 course), Muriwai on the West Coast (top 25 course - close to the famous Gannet Colony and Black Sand beaches), Titirangi close to the city centre (top 10 course originally designed by the legendary Alister MacKenzie) and The Grange and Formosa south of the city (both top 50 courses).

Golfing Central North Island Some of New Zealand's best courses can be played in Coromandel, Rotorua, Taupo, Hawke's Bay / Napier. Cape Kidnappers, Wairakei International (a Peter Thompson re-design), Kinloch (Jack Nicklaus designed) are all top 10 courses (with Kidnappers rated #2). Other courses like Lakes Resort, Poverty Bay, St Andrews Hamilton, Arikikapakapa Rotorua, Hastings and Napier are all Top 50 with their own unique characteristics (like Rotorua's "interesting" thermal hazards). Base yourself in Rotorua/Taupo and all these courses are within easy reach of your accommodation.

Golfing Wellington The southern part of the North Island is also no slouch to good golfing. Paraparaumu (40 mins north of Wellington) is rated #3 in New Zealand (also in the top 100 World Courses and was home to the NZ Open when Tiger Woods played there). Other good courses in the region include Royal Wellington (top 10) and Ngamotu in New Plymouth (top 20). Add the fact that Wellington is the "Coolest Little Capital" and a great holiday combining golf, good food & wine, fantastic culture can be organised.

Golfing Queenstown There are many and varied golf courses to enjoy in and around Queenstown and the Central Otago region. With 6 courses in the Top 50, you can stay a week and not play a course twice. Jack's Point and The Hills are both world-class Top 10 courses (The Hills being home to the NZ Open the past couple of years) with Arrowtown and Millbrook (Bob Charles designed) close on their heels. And Queenstown GC Kelvin Heights has probably the best views of any golf course in the world.
