When is the best time to visit New Zealand? - the simple answer is ANY TIME. New Zealand has activities which can satisfy the most adventurous traveller or the traveller who wants to get away from it all at any time of the year. From the sun drenched Bay of Islands to the World Heritage listed Stewart Island, there is something for everyone.
Visiting New Zealand during peak holiday periods can be crowded, but with careful holiday planning, this can be easily managed. During the off-season, getting around New Zealand is very easy.
Some of the best months to visit are Mar-Apr, when the change to Autumn brings out many of the superb natural colours. In Sep-Oct, the Spring season brings out all the new flowers and their vibrant colours.

What is the weather like? - New Zealand is a moderate climate with major seasonal swings in the South Island (Summer can be hot, and of course Winter is ski season). Northland is comfortable year round.

Transportation in New Zealand
It is very easy to get around New Zealand, whether you drive yourself or take public transportation.
Are the Roads Safe? - The roads in New Zealand are good quality even in rural and mountain areas. Many unsealed roads are being upgraded to benefit tourist driving routes and local transport needs.
What are the Bus/Coach routes like? - The main coach routes cover virtually all the main tourist areas of New Zealand. If you do not want to drive, there are products available such as the Travelpass, Best of New Zealand Pass, Great Sights, Magic Travellers Network and Kiwi Experience to assist the non-driver to see all of New Zealand.
What are the trains like? - There are only a few trains which can be used for tourist itineraries. In the North Island, the Overlander travels between Auckland and Wellington. In the South Island, there are two "Scenic" trains which train enthusiasts and regular travellers will enjoy. The TranzAlpine links the east and west coasts, and the TranzCoastal links Christchurch with the top of the Island. In addition, the Taieri Gorge Railway operates a scenic train into the heart of the 1850s gold-mining area of Central Otago..
Is it easy to get to/from the airport? - Super Shuttle run a service connecting all passengers arriving at various airports around New Zealand with their hotel destination and vice versa. Most aiports are only a short drive from the city centre; even Auckland is only 35 minutes away from the airport.
