Otago Central Rail Trail
Otago Central Rail Trail The most well-known of the cycle trails, and the original 'Great Ride', The Otago Central Rail Trail stretches 150 kms between Clyde to Middlemarch. This is Big Sky country where cyclists of all capabilities will traverse ever-changing mountainous, dry and rocky landscapes, high country sheep stations, river gorges, tunnels, viaducts and more. The original railway line was built between 1891 and 1907; first opened to the public for cycling in 2000.

Twin Coast Cycle Trail
Twin Coast Cycle Trail Located in the Far North, this 84km trail is steeped in historical significance of early New Zealand history. The Treaty of Waitangi (New Zealand's founding document) was signed back in 1840. In parts, the route follows ancient Maori trails from the east to west coast, providing stunning vistas over the Hokianga Harbour and Bay of Islands. The trail will cater for all levels of riding ability including beginners and families. A unique featureof the trail are the series of Pou erected along the route; hand-carved, they recall the history and stories of early settlements.

Mountains to Sea Trail
Mountains to Sea Trail The Mountains to Sea Trail crosses two national parks with outstanding scenery and an area rich in natural and cultural heritage. The full ride will take 4-6 days, covering 317kms. It starts on the slopes of Mount Ruapehu, crosses the Hapuawhenua Viaduct (built in 1908 and listed with the Historic Places Trust), traverses Tongariro and Whanganui National Parks, before crossing the iconic Bridge To Nowhere (built in 1936 and goes nowhere). Riders can then take a jet boat ride down the Whanganui River.

Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail
Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail Riders on the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail will experience a wonderful ride through outstanding landscapes, from snow-capped peaks and beautiful lakes to the dry inland landscape and green pastures characteristic of North Otago. This 312km intermediate-level trail begins in the Southern Alps at Mount Cook National Park, descends through the Mackenzie Basin, then down the Waitaki Valley to Oamaru and the Pacific Ocean. The Alps 2 Ocean is the longest continuous ride in New Zealand. The trail includes multiple access points to begin or end a ride.
